SHSC — South Held Social Club — is four Charleston lifers who never figured out how to quit. Between us, we've been going to punk shows since the early '80s, sleeping rough, working through broken hands and broken backs, and playing in more bands than any of us can list sober: The 33s, Battle Scarred Saints, First World Problem, Cult of Bastards, Double O, Civil Defiance, and a pile of others. Our bassist, Todd Brown, calls himself a band whore. He's not wrong, and he's not the only one.

Drummer Ryan Phillips has been at it since '98, when he and his buddies started Double O on James Island. Todd was an early-'80s punk kid out of Wilmington who went on to run a recording studio in Charleston. Guitarist Nathaniel Irvin stumbled into street punk and Oi! as an underage drinker in a dumpster, and says SHSC is his first band since his last ones. Our other guitarist, Tommy Martin, sang in his first band in 1985 and, in his usually timely fashion, joined his second one about forty years later. This one.

Now we've got a self-titled full-length dropping October 2026: eleven songs, at least two about the pub. We play fast, we play loud, and clearly we're in it for the long haul.
